The Worries of Water

The first sign of damage might not show the whole picture.

A customer called Concept Building Solutions after noticing her floor tiles in the bathroom were beginning to lift. Our area manager began to remove the tiles to find the source of the leak, however, there was no leak under the tiles. The area manager began to remove more and more tiles; and found that there was water damage to the skirting boards, walls, and the ceiling in the room below the bathroom.

What had appeared to be minor damages to the tiles required full strip out works to not only find the leak but to dry out the rest of the property.

Due to the extensive damages our area manager organised for a new bathroom to be installed to ensure the property was put back to its pre-loss condition. In some cases, if an insurer believes an issue has been ongoing, they may try to reject the claim if the damages have not been mitigated. In this particular circumstance our area manager was able to argue that the customer had notified her insurance as soon as the damages became apparent and that it would not have been fair to expect anyone to notice that there was a leak before this point case.
